For so long, I was so excited about the prospect of hosting a family holiday when my little family and I finally moved from an apartment to a house. When that actually came to fruition, the idea was more daunting than I expected. I was hosting Christmas this year, in our new house, for both of our families and extended family. Start with the general stress of the holiday season, and then insert growing anxiety about hosting a full-blown 3-4 course dinner, and I was about ready to bow out and just take a nap.
Then casually in conversation one day while discussing the upcoming holiday, my stepmother mentions how that Cuisinart food processor will come in really handy that I received as a housewarming gift. I had used it here and there, but not for multiple things or large amounts of anything. The idea hadn’t even crossed my mind because it was a fairly new thing in my life and I had yet to uncover the magic that it actually held.
I decided to do some online research to find out what different things this gadget could do. I was quite shocked. I was able to pick a handful of recipes that are specifically easy to make with a food processor, but otherwise would be pretty complicated and/or time-consuming if everything was done manually. This was an absolute lifesaver. I found things for every course from appetizers, soups, sides, main dishes, and desserts. I couldn’t believe it. Not to mention salad dressings, sauces, and different kinds of dough!
I almost wanted to ask my guests not to bring anything just to see how far I could take it. I decided against that, of course. I was able to prepare some things a couple of days ahead of time, but in the midst of all the excitement, I dropped my smaller bowl attachment and broke it, which was so upsetting. It’s basically the equivalent to a child dropping their ice cream cone, except that I had no idea that I would be able to replace it. Luckily, I had ninety-five percent of my prep work done, and anything else that I needed to do could be made with my other bowl attachment.
After telling my stepmother what happened in the midst of my clumsiness, she mentioned a website that she had heard of from a coworker where you could get Cuisinart food processor replacement parts that aren’t aftermarket products, but actual Cuisinart parts. So I visited Kitchen Works Inc. and was so excited to see that I could easily replace my broken bowl attachment. I was momentarily concerned that I would have to purchase a whole new food processor, which unfortunately wouldn’t be a number one priority considering that we were just coming out of the holiday season and needed a break from spending so much money. I also browsed the site to see what other ideas I could get for my food processor for future use and compiled a small list to purchase through the year up until my next big holiday hosting event, which no longer seems like something that is full of dread thanks to my Cuisinart food processor.
